Sound familiar?

You built the income. Your wealth still depends on you.

  • If I stopped working tomorrow, my income would stop too.
  • I've worked hard for my money, but it isn't working hard for me.
  • Too much of what I own is in one business, one country and one currency.
  • I don't know whose information to trust, and I've been burnt before.

How it works

Four steps, in the right order

Start with the mindset. Learn the principles. Create your plan. Take action. It is family-office thinking (the way the wealthiest families in the world manage their money), opened up for everyone, and it always starts with education before investment.

  1. 1

    Start with the mindset

Learn how investors think about money, risk and time, and the language of wealth most of us were never taught at school or at work.

You'll know what "money working for you" really means
  2. 2

    Learn the principles

Global investing and diversification across countries, currencies, assets, partners and time, explained simply in the classroom and at free masterclasses with Scott.

You'll see where you're concentrated today
  3. 3

    Create your plan

Work out your Freedom Number, the monthly income you need to cover your expenses, and start your own wealth plan on one page.

    Your numbers, written down
  4. 4

    Take action

Choose one practical next step, share it with the community and keep going. Learning only counts when it turns into action.

Why before what

Your money habits started long before your first pay cheque

Most of what we do with money runs on beliefs we picked up early: from family, from culture, from the first time money felt scarce or exciting. Knowing more helps. Knowing why you act the way you do is what gives you the choice to act differently. That is why Wealth University teaches the person, not just the numbers.

  1. 1Think

    Money knowledge

How assets, currencies, structures and time work, explained in plain language.

  2. 2Feel

    Money emotions

The habits, fears and stories behind your decisions, so you can respond rather than react.

  3. 3Connect

    Your circle

The people, mentors and community around you. Nobody builds lasting wealth alone.

  4. 4Adapt

    Resilience

Learning and adjusting as markets, rules and your own life change, at a pace you can keep up.

Wealth is a family conversation

How families keep wealth together across generations

Families who keep wealth across generations rarely do it with investments alone. They talk, agree how decisions get made, and bring the next generation in early. These are the ideas behind how a family office works, explained simply.

Family council

A regular meeting where family members share information and make shared decisions. It keeps everyone informed and gives each generation a voice.

Family constitution

A written statement of the family’s values, purpose and how decisions get made. It is a shared agreement, written while things are calm, that heads off conflict later.

Succession planning

Deciding ahead of time who takes on which roles, and how responsibility passes from one generation to the next.

Estate planning

Organising how assets pass on, with wills and the right structures in each country, so the people you care about are not left with confusion. Always done with a qualified professional.

Bringing in the next generation

Involving children and young adults early through education, open conversations and small responsibilities, so wealth arrives with understanding.

One coordinated view

Seeing everything the family owns and owes in one place, across countries, so decisions are made with the full picture rather than in pieces.

Five questions for the kitchen table
  1. What does wealth mean to our family?
  2. What do we want it to make possible?
  3. How will we make big money decisions together?
  4. What should the next generation learn, and when?
  5. Who would step in if something happened tomorrow?

General education only. This is not financial, tax, legal or immigration advice. Speak to a qualified professional about your own situation.

Scott Picken, founder of Wealth University
Why Wealth University exists

Scott Picken, The Wealth Architect

Scott's father did everything he was told: school, university, a career as a financial director, taxes paid, money saved. It still wasn't enough to set him free. At 59, he died broke.

Scott set out to find a better way. Wealth University is how he shares it: the family-office thinking (the way the wealthiest families in the world manage their money), education and access that used to be reserved for the few, opened up so more families can protect and grow what they have built.

A sweeper's contract and a note from home

Scott started as a labourer on a London building site. Then his parents posted him Rich Dad Poor Dad, with a note he still keeps.

Learning from the best, then sharing it

Scott learnt from some of the world's leading investors and entrepreneurs and wrote the book Property Going Global. His biggest lesson: the wealthy never try to do it alone.

Beyond the business

Entrepreneur. Father. Adventurer.

Scott lives in Knysna, on South Africa's Garden Route. He has spent nearly three decades building businesses across borders, and some of his biggest lessons came from outside the boardroom.

“Most successful people don’t have an income problem. They have an architecture problem.”Earning well isn’t the same as being wealthy. What matters is how your money is set up to work for you.SCOTT PICKEN

Happiest in the ocean

Surfing and kite surfing are how Scott stays present. The ocean is where he resets.

Father first

Family and legacy

Scott calls his son his greatest legacy, and wants to build a life his son can be proud of.

Scott 3.0

Rebuilt, not perfect

Growth brought hard lessons, in business and at home. Scott took the time to reflect and rebuild, and came back a more present father and leader.
